Description
  • Natural Product: 100% organic.

Firing Temperature: High fire, between 1150 and 1250 °C. Cone 1 to 8, with a recommended temperature increase rate of 150 °C per hour. At this temperature range, the clay will fire to a cream color. To achieve a pink color, it must be fired between 950 and 1000 °C (Cone 08 to 06).

Color: Fires to a cream or pink color (depending on firing temperature and firing duration). Unfired clay has a pale pink color.

Characteristics: Hand-kneaded and ready to use. Medium-grain texture, between coarse and fine. Withstands up to three firings. Refractory clay suitable for cookware exposed to direct flame, such as casseroles and cooking pots. Suitable for medium-sized pieces up to approximately 50 cm. No additional products are required; it comes fully prepared for use.

    Applications: Crafts, workshops, sculptures, ceramics.

Recommended Skill Level: Beginner – Allows the creation of tall pieces without collapsing. Not ideal for fine details due to its medium-coarse texture.

Safety: This product is non-toxic and contains no lead or other harmful substances. Avoid direct contact with eyes and mouth. Not for consumption. Recommended for ages 5 and up under adult supervision. Not recommended for wheel throwing, as the texture of the material may cause abrasion during use.

Contents: Includes 1 ball of clay. Sculpture not included.

This is a unique proprietary ceramic product that we have developed and refined over decades, resulting in a pink-fired ceramic body. It is made from a distinctive blend of premium domestic and imported clays, creating a unique material offered exclusively by Tierra de Barro.

To achieve its pink color, the clay must be fired between 950 and 1000 °C. It can withstand temperatures of up to 1250 °C, at which point it will fire to a cream color. If left to air dry for several days, it will retain a slightly pink appearance.

This clay has excellent plasticity, allowing the creation of medium-format sculptures and pieces up to approximately 50 cm in size. One of its distinctive characteristics is that it can be fired up to three times. It develops moderate hardness when air-dried and is classified as a refractory clay body.

It is particularly suitable for sculptures created with hybrid techniques that incorporate materials other than clay. To achieve maximum hardness and durability, firing is required.

As a finished ceramic product, it is suitable for cookware such as casseroles because it can withstand direct flame exposure. The primary difference between Coarse Pink Clay and Fine Pink Clay lies in the particle size.

The coarse version contains slightly larger particles, creating a more pronounced texture that provides additional stability for larger pieces. Small granules can be felt throughout the body, helping support larger forms. The fine version has a slightly smoother texture while still maintaining a medium-textured surface. Both clay bodies are somewhat coarser than our other clays, which generally have a texture similar to talcum powder.

We recommend using approximately 500 grams of clay per person to create a small piece.

The clay is hand-kneaded, ready to model, and of exceptional quality. It is supplied in a very soft condition to maximize workability and plasticity. If a firmer consistency is desired, simply allow it to dry for a short period until the desired hardness is achieved. If a softer consistency is required, add water. When rehydrated, the clay returns to its original workable state.

Because the clay is supplied already kneaded, maintaining its moisture content is important. Once the package has been opened, it is recommended to add a small amount of water before resealing the bag.

This material is ideal for modeling and is widely used in a variety of applications. Our customers use it for projects ranging from sculptures to classroom crafts, workshops, and even rehabilitation activities.

Once air-dried, pieces can be decorated with paints such as watercolors, expanding their creative possibilities.

Our products are non-toxic. When rehydrated, the clay becomes workable again. It can be used for wheel throwing, pressing, and hand-building techniques, although hand-building is generally recommended due to its texture.

The final color may vary between the raw clay and the fired piece and may differ from the images shown. It is important to allow the piece to dry completely before firing; a drying period of 24 to 72 hours is recommended.

This is not Zacatecas clay. It is also not a polymer clay or an air-dry clay that permanently hardens without firing. To achieve permanent hardness and durability, the piece must be fired. Until it is fired, the clay remains reusable.
